What do I do....

Role of the clinical neuropsychologist

To evaluate individuals with known and suspected brain disorders who have difficulties in memory, attention, language or other cognitive functions.

What are some disorders that I typically assess?
  • Alzheimer's disease and other dementias
  • Epilepsy
  • Head trauma (AKA traumatic brain injury, concussion)
  • Attention deficit (hyperactivity) disorder (ADD, ADHD)
  • Learning disabilities
Some reasons people consult a psychotherapist
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Low self-esteem
  • Stress or PTSD
  • Grief
  • Difficulties at work or school
  • Problems with relationships
  • Problems with identity
  • Pain or other somatic difficulties
Forensic evaluations

  1. Neurologic signs? Tay-Sachs disease, congenital syphilis, Arnold-Chiari malformation, and cerebral diplegia are just a few of the causes of mental retardation that may present with other neurologic signs. Can cause mental retardation...
